Christian Education
We at the Danville Baptist Church believe that all of us have the responsibility and the opportunity to grow in our faith. The church family seeks to minister to others and to be fed through our teaching ministries. All of our programs are open to any who are seeking. Christian education is available for the whole family.
During the school year, we offer Sunday School from 9:00 to 10:00 am. This includes baby nursery care, preschool, primary, and upper elementary classes, junior and senior high classes, and two adult classes. A ladies’ class provides an intimate sharing atmosphere where the Word of God is applied in a personal way. The Pastor offers a mixed group class, in a discussion format that focuses on a particular book or topic.
Beginning in September, and ending in April, our Wednesday night ministry offers food, fellowship, and spiritual growth. A free spaghetti supper is served at 5:45 pm. The kindergarten through grade five children meet in two separate age groups from 6:15- 7:45. They enjoy crafts, games, songs, and a Bible lesson. The junior high and high school students meet during this time with praise and worship songs, prayer time, games, and a life lesson based on God’s Word. From 6:30 to 7:45 the adults meet with the Pastor for a topical study. The adult study meets throughout the year.
Our major summer ministry is the annual Vacation Bible School program. This is offered for a full week in the mornings. This will take place the first full week in August from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. We offer the children games, skits, crafts, snacks, songs, and Bible truths to take with them.
DBC offers other special events throughout the year. Some of these include: A Fall Festival in September; Night in Bethlehem in December; The Easter Egg Hunt in the spring. These are all free and open to the public.
Our church is blessed with an extensive library offering fiction and non-fiction for all ages. If you are a reader looking for quality literature, or if you have a question about the Bible, or Christianity, you can find great resources in our library. We also have a collection of videos and DVDs.
DBC seeks to provide a safe and secure environment for the children and youth who participate in our programs and activities. Please feel free to review our Child/Youth Protection Policy adopted in May of 2008.
