Missions

The commitment to missions within the Danville Baptist Church is measured in several ways. First, there is the indication of mission dollars. An amount of $13,500 is designated yearly out of DBC’s operating budget. Secondly, there is a mission’s weekend each spring, which features different missionaries, or mission projects DBC supports. Thirdly, there are monthly moments for missions, with reports from the field being shared with the congregation.
A fourth expression of our deep commitment to missions lies in the field of short term mission trips. During the past seven years, over 20 members of the church have participated in mission tripts to Haiti, with most of the church members going on multiple trips. Members from the congregation have journeyed to Oklahoma, Michigan, Arizona, Latin America, New York City, Washington DC, and into the Appalachian region of North Carolina on various missions trips. It is these experiences, which strengthen the heartbeat of missions within the DBC, for at the heart of missions lies personal encounters of sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Another expression of the church’s deep commitment to missions occurs through special offerings received in times of disaster, such as helping the relief efforts following hurricane Katrina & the tsunami in Indonesia.
